dc.description Thesis (M. A. (African Languages)) -- University of Limpopo, 2025 en_US
dc.description.abstract The title of the dissertation is Thematic Techniques in T. P. Magaisa’s Selected Poems. The aim of the study is to evaluate the thematic techniques used in T. P. Magaisa’s selected poems. The study attempts to explore, through the analysis of the various techniques used, the human condition as well as the way in which human life can be comprehended through the analysis of literary works. By using a qualitative approach to inquiry, a purposive sampling of ten poems from Magaisa’s Rivala ra Tsutsuma (2021) were chosen for the study. The study also made use of both textual and content analysis in the analysis of collected data. The sociological Approach to Literary Criticism was used as a theoretical framework to buttress the study. The study found that the study of poetry ushers in a deep understanding of the human condition and offers a crevice through which life can both be negotiated and improved. Thus, Magaisa’s poetry presents as a literary storehouse for reprimanding, offering insight and foresight as well as a haven for didactic nuances that serve to both enlighten and straighten society at large. en_US
