On the preparation of gill nets and their functional handling

Abstract

The paper deals with technical aspects of gill nets such as the manufacturing of floats, weighted footropes and netting needles. Further aspects such as colouration of nets, hanging in, colour coding, coupling to anchor points, anchoring, transportation, setting and raising of the nets are also fully discussed. Included are 30 explanatory text figures.
